Civil War Soldier's Cap

From the Willard monument, follow Red Oak Avenue and take your first right, onto White Oak Avenue. Take a look at the Civil War soldier’s monument on your left—you’ll be able to tell by the soldier’s cap lying on the top. The tree stump is another common motif you will see at Forest Hills—like a broken column, it refers to a life cut short or cut down.
