My artwork often reveals the spiritual nature of life, bringing it into material focus. In site-specific installations, I let the environment dictate the artwork and materials. I am trained as a healer as well as an artist. From shamans from all over the world I have learned how to listen to the spirits of animals, plants, rocks and trees and to let them reveal their knowledge to me. I enjoy the challenge of listening to the environment and letting it speak to me.

Here, I was drawn to a huge fissure in a particular silver maple. As I looked excitedly within, the opening gave way to the interior of the tree, a world unto itself, a sacred space. I want to take people on the journey I took and let the spirit of the tree reveal itself to them in the same way it spoke to me.
