Shadows are something we tend to take fro granted. Yet something of the grace and magnificence of a tree is brought closer to us through observing its shadow. Perhaps the shadow of a tree is its portrait, ever changing as the light changes.

In this piece we have "drawn" with small stones the shadows of two trees. These drawings capture a moment in the movement of the natural world.

Stones are used by numerous cultures to mark spiritual sites. We have used stones, like the grave markers of the cemetery, to evoke memory and to mark something ephemeral.
